Discover the Beauty of the Arnica Nursery
The Arnica Nursery is an ecological outdoor nursery of about 3 hectares, strategically located between the beautiful national parks the Dwingelderveld and the Drents-Friese Wold, in Southwest Drenthe.
For us, everything revolves around the sustainable cultivation of preferably native plants without the use of artificial fertilizers, pesticides or other environmentally harmful substances.
At the top of our priorities is concern for biodiversity.
Our values
Sustainable
We grow our plants without fertilizers or pesticides, respecting nature and the environment. The plants are in the open ground. When ordered, we dig them out and they go with the customer without a plastic pot, their root ball in an old newspaper.
Biodiversity
Our aim is that with our native plants we contribute to a vital ecosystem not only at the nursery, but also with our customers.
Local
We like it when we can work with locally grown raw materials, such as Camelina (gold-of-pleasure) oil as a carrier oil for our products.

Our Story
This adventure began when we, Jan Kroes and Eef Willems, took over the nursery at the end of 2019 with the goal of leaving a little postage stamp more beautiful than we found it. With a heart for nature but very little knowledge of plants, thanks to the help of employee Daniel and many helpful colleagues, we learned a lot and transformed the nursery into what it is today: a fine place with mostly native plants. We took over a biodynamic nursery from the previous owner, but we didn’t really realize the value of native plants yet. We now see that by growing and selling native plants we can make not only our own stamp more beautiful, but even all kinds of other stamps across the country!
At the Arnica Nursery we would like to invite you to visit our beautiful place. We can advise on choosing the right plant, explain our workshops, or you can just enjoy the view on the bench under the lime tree.
What we do
At the Arnica nursery, we grow more than 100 species of native wild plants in addition to the rare Arnica montana. Our customer base is diverse and includes pharmacists, nurseries, gardeners and individuals.
